Up & Running

New animation studio STC, have picked up their first major studio client New Balance.

The project marks the launch of the New Balance 420 and 410 kids shoes. The trainers were charmingly animated in stop motion, at South Manchester Studios at the start of May. The trainers are characterised as part of an adorable family of 420’s living in the bottom of a wardrobe. The bespoke set was created by Robin Jackson, reflecting the look and feel of a real child’s bedroom.

Based in Northwest England STC works both from their regional studio-base alongside agencies and in-house with contracted clients. Previous clients include Hot Animation, CBBC Scotland and Vivid Manchester. Kim Emson Animates brings ideas to life for television and Internet broadcast utilising product animation in the form of stop motion animation. The whole crew all met through working together on Bob the Builder.

Talking about winning the contract, founder and animator Kim Emson said "We're absolutely thrilled and delighted, our studio crew have worked hard setting up a company that offers clients a full service approach with best value. In light of the recent decline of the larger animation houses in the region, it's not just a success for us but for the industry."

When asked to comment on the teams first major project, Director of Photography Ben Jones said "Whether it's a short or long term on location project or delivering a full service project, the bespoke team at Kim Emson Animates have the depth and breadth of experience to offer creative, flexible and professional results for online content, corporate or broadcast and we're confident that this win will just be the start for us.”
